Our Story
Ronald McDonald
House Charities has been McDonald's Charity of
Choice for 36 years.
We are a non-profit 501(c)(3)
corporation, but McDonald's is our largest
corporate donor. McDonald's restaurants are a
significant partner in the development of all
Ronald McDonald House Charities chapters around
the world. Portions of the annual
operating costs for RMHC-NEO are graciously
funded by McDonald's and local McDonald's Owner/Operators. The remainder of
our annual operating income comes from the
generosity of individual and corporate donors.
McDonald’s involvement extends beyond monetary support:
* Franchises partner with local RMHC Chapters for promotional and fundraising events.
* McDonald’s employees are dedicated volunteers.
* Owner/operators participate in local and global RMHC boards.
*
RMHC
Donation Boxes
placed in restaurants are the largest source of
ongoing fundraising. McDonald's Owner/Operators
graciously allow RMHC to place these donation
boxes in the drive thru and on the front counter
of their restaurants which makes it easy
for the community to support families in
Northeast Ohio.
* In-restaurant sales of
USA Today are all donated to RMHC.
* The sale of every Happy Meal at your local McDonald's benefits RMHC 365 days a year!
Although McDonald’s is our largest corporate donor, no company can solely fund our programs and our projected growth. We need the support of the entire community and greatly value any support you can afford, whether it’s through cash donations, your time or fundraising efforts. To make a donation, click HERE.
Our local McDonald’s owner/operators
wholeheartedly support RMHC, RMH & RMCM by
personally providing financial, volunteer and
in-kind product support. Various fundraising
activities happen inside and outside their
McDonald's restaurants. One such activity
includes the placement of donation boxes in each
restaurant, .
A local
Board of Directors oversees RMHC-NEO and
includes McDonald's Owner/Operators as well as
members of the medical community, business and
civic leaders, parent/volunteers, and
representatives from the Ronald McDonald Houses
of Akron and Cleveland.
Our History
Ronald McDonald Children's Charities was created in 1984 in memory of McDonald's founder, Ray A. Kroc. Mr. Kroc practiced what he preached -- he shared his business and personal financial success with others. That philosophy has characterized McDonald's community commitment throughout its more than 30-year history. Northeastern Ohio McDonald's Owner/Operators continued Mr. Kroc's tradition by establishing a local chapter in 1987. In 1996, Ronald McDonald Children's Charities combined its tremendous success with that of the Ronald McDonald Houses in Akron and Cleveland to form Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeastern Ohio, Inc. (RMHC-NEO).

Too many Northeast Ohio
children’s lives are being affected by tooth
decay. Their school work suffers, they don’t eat
properly and they won’t smile because they’re
embarrassed about their teeth. All the fun
things about being a child just aren’t fun
anymore.
Even more troubling is that long term, if
untreated, tooth decay and dental problems can
lead to other more serious health concerns. Far
too many children are not getting access to
basic dental services and ultimately,
hospitalization is required to remedy serious,
yet preventable conditions. For an increasing
number of Northeast Ohio children, inadequate
dental hygiene and its consequences are a daily
reality.
Ronald McDonald Care Mobile
in partnership with University Hospitals Rainbow
Babies & Children's Hospital provides
dental service to children ages 3 to 6 in
underserved areas of Northeastern Ohio. To

Many families travel far from home to get
treatment for their seriously ill or injured
children. Often, it can be a long time to be
away from home, or to divide a family. And, for
children facing a serious medical crisis,
nothing seems scarier than not having their mom
and dad close by for love and support.
Ronald McDonald House programs provides a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on healing their child – not where they can afford to stay, where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest.
